What Is Genetic Engineering, Really?

Genetic engineering is the process of taking a gene from one living organism and placing the DNA from one gene into the cell of another gene. This produces new traits that the organism didn’t have before. By doing this, a person can create or produce traits in an organism, like plants that they want it to have that it otherwise wouldn’t. For example, in a plant that is grown for crops, a farmer could insert DNA of one plant into another so that it will produce a trait that he wants it to have, such as purple flowers. Genetic engineering is an art form and modification of the traits that the living organism already has. People have used this successfully on plants and animals, but they are now starting to use it for humans.

How Does Genetic Engineering Work On Humans?

Parents who are expecting a baby use genetic engineering to add traits to the baby that they want, such as blue eyes. Questions are arising as to whether this is moral and ethical or not. Some say it is “playing God” when someone adds traits and characteristics to a fetus instead of letting nature take its course. But people really want certain traits in their offspring, so they are willing to do what it takes to make sure they have a boy with blue eyes. Genetic engineering is not a new idea, but it is definitely growing in popularity among expecting parents. When they find out how easy it is to change one or more traits in their babies. Genetic engineering is taking on a positive effect in humans, however. It is being used to treat genetic disorders, and people are finding relief thanks to this breakthrough.

Gene therapy is still experimental, but how it works is; a new gene is added to replace the old diseased one, causing healing and relief in most people.

Genetic engineering has been used in lots of ways, and it is still under experimentation, but as we advance in science we will find more ways to use it.

The Ethical Impact of Genetic Engineering on Insurance

Genetic engineering—a term not only nonexistent in the not so far away past but an incredible if not questionable partaking in what is or isn’t/should or should not be left to our own devices. Does Colorado health insurance come into play where this topic is concerned?

What Will It Be Next?

Scientists have figured out a way to genetically engineer everything from algae for the production of bio fuel to potatoes that protect against infestation by potato beetles (yes that means that they are genetically engineering the food we eat… How does your insurance feel about that?) to actual beings.  GEAN in Colorado is the area’s action network for biological genetic engineering. Who would’ve thought that in an area is beautiful and seemingly untouched as Colorado, man scientists would be working on ways to take over the world. Okay maybe it’s not that bad but you get the gist. It’s got to be the last thing you think of when you’re standing on a Rocky Mountain mountaintop overseeing the amazing creation before you.

What Exactly Is In There?

I’m not sure—do I or do I not want to know what goes into food that is genetically engineered? Do I even want to get anywhere near it? If you genetically engineer a vegetable that grows in the ground; and the animals that unfortunately burrow into those vegetables are affected; then the birds that eat the bugs that eating the vegetables will be infected; and now that the birds are infected—where does it go from there? It’s going to get into the flowers and the pollen which goes into the air which is carried by the winds to cross pollinate other plants. This is worse than a SCI Fi movie! And that’s not even considering the fact that whatever they did to change that vegetable is now going directly into your body and aren’t there enough chemicals being ingested by humans these days? Do we really need more?

Experts continue to argue that genetic engineering is comparable to doing a complicated cardiac surgical treatment with a coal shovel. Jeeze no wonder Health Insurance costs are on the rise. We are scientifically, technologically seeing to it that our bodies are more chemical filled than the air we breathe.

Genetic Engineering And Hair Loss

Hair loss can be one of the most embarrassing things you have to go through in your life. Your genetics might be the reason why you are losing all of your hair. The good thing is that you are not going to have to struggle with this problem much longer, and plenty of people in the world are suffering from the same thing.

Getting Help

One of the many Clive hair clinics is going to be the best thing you can do in order to get a handle on all of your hair loss. You need to find out what in your genetics is affecting your hair so that you are able to get put on the right medication or hair treatments so that you are able to start growing back your hair. You also need to be sure you tell your doctor about your lifestyle and all of the things you do because one of them could be hurting your chances of growing hair.

Diet And Exercise

Always be sure you are eating well because your hair needs to have nutrients and vitamins as well. Your doctor will be able to instruct you on which foods you need to eat more of. Try to cut out any stress or anything that makes you anxious so that you are able to focus solely on getting better. Exercise is very important because it will help reduce your stress levels. If you are a person that hates to exercise then try something simple like yoga. The most important thing you can do is keep yourself calm at all times.

Sometimes our genetics can be a real bummer especially if it affects our hair. Just remember there’s always help out there and you will get better and start growing hair back.

Genetic Engineering and Fertility

Helping couples conceive is one thing; but are we playing god when it comes to genetic engineering? There’s an argument for both cases.

Helping Texas Women To Conceive

At the Houston Fertility Center, doctors and specially trained staff have been helping Texas women to conceive when many thought all hope was lost. Even families with financial difficulties can receive assistance with not only conception but financial payback arrangements as well. This center understands what family is all about and continues their endeavor to help women become a complete a family. This has become an extremely accepted practice through the years; and many are thankful for its discovery.

Some Things Might Better Be Left To Chance

Whether or not science should have delved into certain matters; the point is now moot. It’s been done. Determining whether or not an infertile couple can conceive is one thing; determining hair color, eye color and sex of a baby—some believe—may not so much be exploring uncharted territory but definitely forbidden territory. The determining of skin color in fact is another factor that scientists have taken under consideration.

Has science overstepped their bounds or is man simply being allowed to utilize their intelligence to its full extent in the pursuit of life’s very beginnings?
